HMS RE-SITS cont.

Guys, Followers and anyone who may stumble across this post.
I've acquired an internet signal (thanks to my really great mum) and while I'm supposed to be using it purely for coursework and exam preparation, I thought I could expend a little on updating this blog and letting you all know how things lie.
I must have listened to about 12 hours of 'What is love' on repeat during the last three days. Time has been blurring together, while constantly slipping away. I've got a pretty good 'team' here, which currently metaphorically consists of me, the ships captain,  a ships mechanic, a new super-hero, the techno guy and my mum.
So far it's been a long stretch of  near consistent fighting with no one definitely winning, so its still all to play for. Although I'd keep playing even if it wasn't. Never give up, never surrender and all that jazz.
Thunderstorms keep stopping and starting, both literally here and in the metaphorical planes of my imagination. (The sky behind me just flashed with lighting and I'd love to be outside. I love lighting.)

Anyway in three days this ship will either be fine and dandy or it will be drift wood. (But I won't actually know for quite a while because LoBro are pretty slow about releasing results.)
I'm not going to give a goodbye speech because I've done that before and besides we're going to win anyway, so I guess I'll see you on the other shore.

Hourly Comic Day 2012

I watched V for Vendetta today. It was pretty brilliant. Seriously guys, it's like 1984 meets the born identity and then watched zoro. This is what I wanted from 1984. Not exactly, but 1984 was for me rather dreary. Nothing really happened, no one did anything. I don't care how it ended but nothing happened in the middle either.
I just thought that this was one of those films where I never felt 'Seriously movie? Why do that, it's not supposed to go that way?', so yeah. I really liked it and would recommend it.

I also finished Halo Reach. Yeah, I finished a halo game all the way through. The one with the trailer that made me say I'd maybe one day play Halo. Thanks trailer.

Also it's hourly comic day today!! (Thanks to my Mum who put it on my calendar for me. )
TBH I don't think I stand a chance of hacking it, but I'm going to try it. Maybe I could manage a 3-hourly comic day.
Here's the first one for you guys. (It's phone-cam'ed because I don't want to use my scanner at 2am.)
Gotta love those times when you're walking along to ELO, and it's really late and the moon is crazy big. Also the streetlamp that always turns off when I walked past turned on for me this time. That was pretty cool.

Caffeine Free

Sooo, no more coursework for a while. I got some sleep, stopped drinking as much caffeine and now I feel much better thank you. Yeah that's pretty much all I had to say.
I guess in other news there are quite a few films coming out that I'm interested in how they do. There's Tin Tin and The Muppet's, both of which could very well fail but might pull it off and I think the first has a better chance of doing well. Also it's got the cool guy from Jumper in it, you know the one with the accent who knew what he was doing. The musketeers film looks like it could be cool, I mean it had blimps in the trailer. It looks a bit like they might have taken the bad bits from the first movie and reversed them, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.
In other vaguely related news ATFW did manage to pull of a brilliant reveal for the entity arc. I really didn't think he could do it (and was setting myself up for some major anticlimax) but he did. It felt so completely out of left field, but it made so much sense. So much sense in fact that quite a few people had apparently guessed it, because literally everything fitted in. And that is one of the many reasons why I love continuity, some times it all comes together in one big 'seriously how did I not see that' Blam. Epic.
I'm not really stopping for long, I just thought I'd rather put more of a bright and happy post up now that I'm feeling bright and happy again.

Aside Script : Once again it's nearly Poster Time, I don't think I'll need your help this time round [A bunch of help you all were last time .... ] but I'll shout if I need any ideas. Better yet, you shout if you have any ideas.
I've done TF2 and a Full Life Half Life Consequences so I was thinking of doing something different. (The one I have in mind atm is RvB) but ideas from either of them are welcome as well.

Being in a film

Do you ever think it would be cool if your life was part of a movie? It would be kind of funny if every time you wrote a letter you got a voice-over reading it aloud, and background music depicting how you felt at appropriate moments. I guess it would depend on what sort of movie you were in, and it would mean that everything would go down-hill in the middle. Especially if you were writing a letter, because the only movies I can think of where people write letters are the Jane-Austin'y  ones and everyone knows you can't have a good romance without loads of mis-understanding and communication problems that turn everyone against each other. Although that would probably be better than everyone getting eaten by a dinosaur or something. Yeah, I don't think being part of a movie would be fun after all. I've seen The Truman Show and Stranger Than Fiction. People in movies in movies seem to spend the whole time trying to get out of them. Which I guess is pretty sad because ultimately they end up staying in the movie, but there's a whole other level of movie out there that they don't even realise. That should be a metaphor or something. It's a bit like what I think may be the plot of one of the matrix films I haven't seen yet. Although even if they don't make it out side of the film as we're seeing it, at least they get to change the ending to a happier one. Besides, background music would get kind of annoying, and it's not like you can hear it if you're in the film anyway.

On a similar note I saw 'The Lost World' (The Conan Doyle version) recently. I think I like bad movies more than people are supposed to, because I thought it was really great. It has Dinosaurs, English people, Guys with hats and guns, it was fairly predictable but not entirely (I was waiting so long for this one guy to die, and he lived right through. He played the wife and children card. Although it actually turns out that none of the main characters died, BBC wussed out at the last minute) and I even got a fairly decent argument out of it with my sister about who was right in the end (The scientist guy or the hunter guy).
I picked up a copy of the book recently though, and it seemed really hard to read. It had a lot of long words and descriptions in it. Also I couldn't immediately tell what was going on when I opened it randomly about 3/4 through. Which is probably a really bad way to judge a book, but whatever. Apparently Jules Verne is a bit like that, so I might give up on trying to find a copy of 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' and try and watch the film instead.

Updates and speeches

This one is more of a small life-update really, although you never know maybe I'll get distracted and go off on a tangent or something.
So here are some things which have recently changed, or I deem cute/relevant:

• Exams are over and its time for the summer. 
• I have two kittens (who really need homes soon. Which  is sad because they're uber cute.) and a cat.
• I have TF2 on my computer, which is pretty sweet. It's free forever now, because valve really know what they're doing, so you can get it too if you want. Those guys at TF2 are indeed awesome. The game is constantly updating and they make a point to flesh out all the characters and even give them stories and backgrounds. (Except the Pyro, no one seems to know anything about him(/her).) 
• I have a real bed now (instead of a mattress). It's made of wood and everything. It also has a set of draws, shelves and mini cupboard underneath it.

I think that's pretty much everything, I don't have any work to do (yet. My results aren't in yet, so I don't have resits yet) although I do need to sort out my new bed/furniture/room-thing set and get it all organised up.

Also, in other news, I saw the kings speech today.

I didn't think I was going to like this film all that much. I'd had descriptions of it, and reliable sources tell me that it was (and I don't quote) 'a film I would happily sit through, but wouldn't choose to watch'.

Dudes (and dudettes), this film is actually pretty good.

I was told that it wasn't particularly funny, and didn't have any of those witty cool guys who laugh at people but I think that Speech therapist-y guy was pretty cool.

It's quite a hard film to describe. I liked both the characters and wanted them to win, I liked the music and I never wanted to yell at the TV. Surprisingly no-one seemed to make ridiculously pointless and stupid decisions that ruined everything. I guess that happens more in romances. Maybe I don't like romances then.

I don't know what genre film that was, so I can't tell you if you'd like it but I liked amazing grace, and this film is pretty similar (Just with less alcoholics.) I haven't seen that film in a long time either, but I think if you liked that, you'd like this.

As a conclusion, I would more than happily watch this film, although I probably wouldn't put it on of my own accord.

The Exams are ending.

So, lectures start again on Monday. It will be nice to get back to the everyday trudge of life. You need something like lectures to give your day a structure. Exams really take it out of you though, I finished my last exam went food shopping and then just fell asleep. It must have been all those late nights, so hopefully I've caught up on it now.
I think it would be cool to be 'that guy who works in the corner over there'. The one whose always in the corner of the office, like a piece of scenery. No one knows much about them, because no one asks. If someone brings them up, you can expect a 'who? Oh them.' Everyone just assumes they never do anything, they're not important to the plot. Exept every now n' again they'll say something important, or they'll be the one to notice what's going on. Kinda like that one guy in one of Terry Pratchetts books. Seriously that is a good book though, you should read it.
Yeah I really need lectures to start again. I'm starting to sink back into 'I don't need other people' mode. This is not a particularly good mode.

On a side note, apparently most of you would like to be the "but I thought you were my friend!" bad guy. I guess I should think twice before trusting you guys...

I have work so I can't talk right now, and I'm very  very distracted. Which is incredibly bad, but Calculus is just soooo evil and stuff.

So what up guys? Me? Yeah I kinda blew it on my Geometry (seriously how many times do I keep trying to write geology? Maybe I'm on the wrong course.) paper. Sorry. I was going to try and carry the revision mood over and do y'all a nice little sketch of preparing to revise if I felt like I did well, but I didn't so you don't get one. If I go down, I'm taking everyone else down with me.
I felt a bit bummed (Can I say that? They say it in those goofy awesome movies. Please don't hate me!) but a bottle of coke, ATFW and both the 'family of blood' dr who episodes later and I'm feeling much better now. Thanks for asking. If you think I'm really into Dr Who atm, your probably right, but I have good reason! It's one of the only good things on iPlayer, and I also acquired 2 DVDs over Christmas. Having loads of something really gets you into it. The Tom Baker one was pretty funny. An Evil wooden puppet from the future with the soul of pig (yeah, the soul of a pig) who hates humanity and wants to kill every one, was a pretty good idea for a villian. And those invisible laser guns were pretty efficiant. People started falling over before you even press the trigger sometimes. I also loved the way they managed to end it on such a happy note. You never really get that in Dr who. Someone's always sad to see him go, unless everyone's dead.
In this one they all went and got muffins. I'm not even sure anyone realised he was a timelord.
Anyway. I've done a David and gone on for ages about something I wasn't even going to talk about. Sorry if I'm using too many words. They sometimes put me off stuff, so I don't really like inflicting loads on other people.
Which brings me on to what I was actually going to say. I don't think it really matters what any of you think about this blog. I had a conversation, which spawned a thought about what a blog is for. I don't know why people blog, and I don't know why people read blogs. If I were you I wouldn't read this. It's not interesting to people who aren't me. Its just a load of stuff about what's in my kitchen, and currently Dr Who. Its not even funny, but that's ok because tbh I'm pretty sure this isn't written for you. Unless you're my antimatter dopple ganger (if so, please don't come near me. I don't want to have to try and kill you) or you're somehow me.

Even then, I'm not sure you would enjoy reading this. You have you're own life to live, and you should live it to the full.I know its hard, trying to be yourself when there's two of you, but we can do this.

Anyway, as far as I'm aware nigh on nobody reads this, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Its not really a good thing either, as it just means I'm wasting my time and nobody votes on the polls. (I like knowing how y'all think...) I like talking to text boxes.
So to cut a really long story long, I think its time to change the point of this blog. Many posts ago I think I said something about wanting to talk about all that crazy stuff that goes through my head. I don't think that's the case anymore. From now on the point of this blog is to write down what I want to write down in this text box. Prehaps we'll talk about some crazy stuff, maybe you'll gain a little more insight into the mind of me, (Seriously if you're trying now, give up now. I have a spider diagram and I still don't get where I'm coming from) or maybe I'll just whine about exams. You can waste your life reading about my life if you want.

Hey. If you're happy, I'm a little bit happier. Because I like it when people are happy.

I'm also pro 'starting sentances with the word because'.

Oooh, Oooh! Also, I was looking up this song which I had stuck in my head (The record Rattigan plays when he leaves Basil in the Death trap) when youtube told me that this was related [Obvious link]. You may not think this is cool, but I think these guys are very cool. It's so accurate!

[Sorry if this does not make you happy. I guess my happiness level is still a bit low, whereas I usually blog on +epic or +happy. Family of blood is one really awesome ep, but in some inexplicable way, it doesn't reach those levels of epic/happy. - next up, Blink Rvb season 2-3]

9 days to go!

This is just a short one one the grounds that I got my deadlines mixed up, and so I have a giant piece of cw due in today which isn't finished yet. My brain is feeling happy and kinda sleepy in that mostly awake state that coffe brings when you're tired. Its quite a nice feeling really. You could sleep if you want to, but you don't have to, you're awake with a happy dull drowsiness hanging about. The album Discovery playing in the background adds a pretty neat feel as well. Today is a good time.
Sherlock decided to work on the iPlayer last night. Which was pretty darn cool (although it decided to work while I was supposed to be working on something else, so I got a little distracted) I really like the way they throw in little bits from the books, seemingly for the sole purpose of some people going " XD I read that it the books! How cool!" Like the orange pips bit in the last episode, or the book code in the one before. Although really the lady in the museum was a little bit silly as *** SPOILER (for the blind banker) SEE END OF POST***
I also saw 'Voyage of the Dawntreader' yesterday. Admittedly it wasn't the bestest film ever, but I will give the film makers credit for giving it a plot because the book really wasn't a film worthy book. It's a series of little adventures on islands (that don't really connect that much), whereas the film changes the order of events around a bit and manages to link them all together with a bit of plot and what's almost an antagonist. (Although I wouldn't really class it as one particulally). It was never amazingly gripping, but I think thats because its a kids film, and I already knew what would happen from the book. They also decided to add a small girl to the film, which annoyed me. They didn't need a small girl, and she didn't do much exept be a small girl, and interact with Lucy. I suppose the interaction was important, but it didn't justify her existence to me. Ok, maybe it justifies her existence, but I still didn't like it. Bleh.
I wonder how they're Gonna do 'The last battle', because that one feels a little dark for some of the kids watching The Dawntreader.
Anyways, its 9:00 so I should head down to the labs.

Swords

THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE 4 MUSKETEERS, I HAVE PUT THEM AT THE END OF THE POST SO YOU CAN ATTEMPT TO READ WITHOUT THEM IF YOU SO WISH. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
So yeah. Loads of stuff happerns, I can't remember all of it, I have a deadline for tomorrow and I'm slightly tired already (Haven't even started yet).
In fencing today we looked at different types of fencing we could branch out into if we wanted. One of them (which I think I will do) changed the rules to, 'anything above the waist is a target', and involves cutting (or using the side of the blade) as well as poking people. What I do find a bit weird is that the main target you hit now is the head. It makes perfect sense because the head is just there, it dosn't move much and its fairly easy to hit, however in moves and things with swordfights in them no one ever aims for the head. It feels like its a bit low or something. Its probably because in a movie everyone needs to get stabbed pretty epicly, whereas a sword to the head would be more graphic and less epic. (you wouldn't get much of a 'last words' shot if somone had been stabbed in the face) but other then that its pretty cool.
Its more "AAARGH SWORDS! *slash wildly* Le gosh!". Although its not really supposed to be that, and that's pretty much what I do anyway, but it is less thinking about different parrys and more 'just hit said person with sword'. (and there are only 3 parrys apparently)
On the subject of fencing, I finally managed to acquire the other half of the 4 musketeers (yay for the mail on sunday DVDs) to go with my first part, the 3 musketeers. Gee that films pretty bad. TBH its not even so bad its good. Its just bad. I swear I'm nearly a better musketeer then most the cast in that movie, everyone in it is a complete noob. (pretty much, admittedly I still like Aramis and Athos but they could have been a lot better) they only thing everyone seemed to be good at was throwing thier voices, and ventriloquism. Yeeeah, a lot of scenes had people talking without thier mouths moving. Did they even try with this film?

yeah ok they're only really minor spoilers and don't really affect the plot of the movie that much.
Other than that, it's snowed loads here (wich is cool) and my room has become a live in washing line because I tried to put all my clothes in one dryer.
Also Galaxy quest is the awesome. Having a genre savvy redshirt was pretty genious.
On a sadder note, my computer seems to be refusing to play me any video's from TGWTG.
Anyways I really need to work or something so have a nice 'untill I update again' :D

And what's with lady de winter (or whatever her name is) I don't think there's a single man in the film who she meets without trying to get with them in some way. And the main protaganist D'Artagnan too. This is pretty much how one scene goes, with no major time passing:
"yeah, no probs mate, I'll definitely stay true to my girlfriend(?)" [seriously who is this woman to him, they act as if they're married, but in the last film she had a husband. Did he die or something in the past 2 months or so? She doesn't look very sad.]
cut scene - arrives at other lady's house, maid answers
"hello is lady person in?"
"no, and she doesn't love you, but she'll be back in 10 mins and I think you're hot"
Implied sex.
Lady returns
maid "you should go"
hero jumps out window, and comes back round through front door.
"Hello lady who just got here, would you care to make out with me?"
